You would think that a 48-17 victory over your biggest rival would have no negatives for the winning coach. That's not the case for New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen.

With the late-game drama in their victory over the Atlanta Falcons, Allen proved some things that fans have feared to be true over the past two years. If you missed it, the Saints scored a last-minute touchdown while up 41-17. They were in a kneeling formation but decided to punch it in.

After the game, players confirmed that it was their decision – not the choice of the coaches. Falcons HC Arthur Smith was irate after the game due to the play and his team's poor performance.

Allen threw his players 'under the bus' a bit in the postgame. He said that the decision to score was not made by the coaching staff. He apologized to the Falcons for the play – rather than backing his players up for their decision that they felt passionate about.

That's the worst part of this situation. Allen needed to give some respect to his players. Instead, he crawled to a corner and said 'sorry' to gain brownie points from the organization's most-hated opponent? A rough look.

Alvin Kamara already backed up his teammates' decision to give Jamaal Williams the chance to score. He's one of multiple players to say that they're happy with their decision to go their own way – away from Allen's expectations.

Overall, it is just a rough look for the Saints head coach.

The choice by the players shows that they potentially lack some respect for Allen, and his response shows his ignorance to how his players feel.

Allen is too comfortable with the front office for a coach that should have had plenty of pressure eon him to complete the season. Now, it looks like he's locked in to be the HC in New Orleans in 2024.
