The New Orleans Saints used the third day of the NFL Draft to focus on offense. Their first pick in the fourth round, offensive tackle Nick Saldiveri might be the most interesting of the bunch.

Saldiveri is 6'6" and 318 pounds, and he's likely to slide inside in the NFL. When looking at the current state of affairs on the Saints' offensive line, the Saldiveri pick becomes an interesting one.

According to Pro Football Focus, both starting guards for the Saints will be in contract years in 2023 if Cesar Ruiz doesn't have his fifth-year option picked up. Assuming that happens, New Orleans could be in a situation where they'd be searching for multiple starters at guard in 2024, but Saldiveri would already give them something to work with in-house, and being on a rookie deal means the Saints will have him on a cheap price tag for several years.

There are many layers to the NFL, and one of them for every team is making sure their roster always has depth on it. Saldiveri provides that for the Saints, and the fact that New Orleans traded up to get him says a lot about their belief in his play.
