It is becoming a trend. The New Orleans Saints offense is not playing good football once again. The blame game is apparent now, and they must diagnose those issues.
In their embarrassing Week 4 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans was outmatched in every way while they had the football. The running game never got a push, and the passing game looked extremely limited. OC Pete Carmichael Jr.'s seat only got hotter.
Against TB, the Saints offense had 11 offensive drives. Over half of them were 5 yards and under.
That's just plain unacceptable from a unit with plenty of talent.
When you struggle that badly on offense, your defense suffers, too. Quick offensive drives that end in punts or turnovers will tire out your defense. By the fourth quarter, it was clear that the Saints defense was gassed.
That cannot happen against a division rival that did not possess a top-flight offense. The Saints must find ways to find better success on third downs, and play-calling plays a major role in that.
Even with offensive line struggles, New Orleans has to find their footing on offense. If a coaching change needs to be made, then it has to be immediately.
Frustrations are boiling over, and New Orleans doesn't have time to pile up bad offensive performances if they want to win the NFC South.
