The Honey Badger isn't going anywhere.

As they try to get to cap compliancy, they have extended one of their best players on defense. At the same time, they receive cap relief from the new deal.

The Saints are re-signing star safety Tyrann Mathieu to a two-year extension worth $13 million.

According to Nick Underhill, Mathieu's cap number drops from $12M to about $5.5 in 2024.

Additionally, New Orleans keeps their leader on defense in the building for the next two years. Mathieu has played well over the past two seasons, totaling seven interceptions and 166 total tackles.

He is a major part of the team's chemistry and a fan favorite. New Orleans founds the smartest way to keep him, potentially until he retires.
