Jets fans, it’s time to hear a hard truth. By now you have seen the Aaron Rodgers video from OTAs practice where he is receiving medical treatment and hobbling around. It’s not a pretty sight.
But here’s what you need to know. You panic too much.
Forgive me if this article sounds like a rant, because well, it is one.
You can see the video below with the caption “Yikes. Is Aaron Rodgers ok?” which of course sets the panic meter off before even pressing “play”.
The first part of the video shows Rodgers tending to something in his Achilles area and a trainer coming over to help. This is not a sore Achilles that they are looking at. It’s not even the Achilles he tore last season. It’s a freaking blister.
The trainer and Rodgers are literally putting a blister pad on the damn thing in the video. Let’s stop acting like they are putting an air cast on him before the medevac him to the nearest trauma center.
Anyone who has been an athlete for any amount of time knows 1- a blister can feel like death with every step and 2- new cleats almost always lead to blisters. It’s OTAs folks. Rodgers hasn’t been doing much football activity in pads and cleats since last September. Let’s cut him a break on getting a blister.
And speaking of cutting him a break, let’s talk about the second half of the video. The man is 40. It’s not even June yet and we are looking at him moving stiffly and canceling the Super Bowl tickets we bought when they signed Mike Williams. Calm down.
Rodgers doesn’t look great moving around, but he also doesn’t look like he needs a wheelchair. He looks like a 40-year-old out in the heat after not practicing much in the last year with an aggravating blister on his heel running through drills. There is a reason players of a certain age don’t practice every day. I’m not even 40 and I rain sweat when I go bowling. Let’s cut him a little slack. The season doesn’t start until September.
Jets’ HC Robert Saleh confirms suspicion about his offensive coordinator
For Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, 2023 wasn’t the comeback story he had envisioned after getting fired after one season as the head coach of the Denver Broncos. He was mocked by new Broncos head coach Sean Payton for how mismanaged the team was the previous season under Hackett. For all the buildup and all […]
