The New York Jets are ready to take the league by storm.
After what seemed like years, the team was finally able to bring in Aaron Rodgers. It seemed as though the final nail in the coffin with his relationship with Green Bay was when Rodgers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to let the world know he wanted to play for New York.
With endless amounts of highlight videos that feature insane passes to Garrett Wilson and a shiny new alternate uniform, it's a great day to be a fan of the New York Jets. With camp underway, more news has broke about the Jets' brand-new quarterback.
Tom Pelissero helped break the news that the New York Jets signed Aaron Rodgers to a new two-year deal with $75M guaranteed through the 2024 season. With his deal, he is actually losing money as he had nearly $110M guaranteed on his old deal.
What's more, Pelissero further broke down the contract details which shows just how impressive the deal is, keeping him in New York with a few hidden details.
The full breakdown of his impressive new $75M fully guaranteed deal includes a $35M roster bonus along with a 2023 base salary of $1,838,888 and a 2024 base salary of $38,161,111.
Rodgers doesn't even sniff the top-five money in terms of the highest-paid NFL quarterbacks. In the deal, there's also a no-tag and no-trade clause to close it out.
Rodgers wants to come to New York and win a ring, plain and simple. While the division is stacked with the likes of Josh Allen and the Bills, along with the rise of Tua Tagovailoa in the Mike McDaniel system, New York has built something impressive over the past few seasons with Joe Douglas calling the shots along with Robert Saleh's new direction for the team.
Rodgers' new contract gives the Jets some wiggle room and shows the world what he truly cares about more than anything else: Winning a Super Bowl.
It won't be easy, but the Jets and their fans should like the team's chances to shake things up in the division. Bringing in a former MVP and Super Bowl champ is never a bad thing for an organization.
