That wasn’t pretty. That wasn’t fun. That wasn’t exciting or entertaining for Jets fans. That is, unfortunately, reality.

This is your New York Jets team with Zach Wilson at the helm. It is the harsh reality of what happens to a franchise when they miss on a quarterback high in the draft. And boy, did they miss.

The Jets lost to the Dallas Cowboys by a final of 30-10, and it is safe to say the game wasn’t that close.

Now, let’s get two undeniable truths out there before we go too far down the rabbit hole. First: Zach Wilson was terrible. Second: It wasn’t all his fault. Not by a long shot.

Zach had three or four good throws in 27 attempts. The play-action dart he threw on the touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson was a fantastic throw. Garrett Wilson caught it and did what play makers do. He made a play.

Jets fans would have loved to have seen more of that in the game but instead they were treated to more interceptions. Three in fact. None of them were bobbled passes or tipped balls. They were all errant throws.

Now that the Zach Wilson truth is out of the way we can move on to the rest of the team.

The Jets offensive line wasn’t bad, it was embarrassing. Duane Brown looks like he can’t catch his breath out there and is a statue in pass protection.

Micah Parson is a beast. Robert Saleh called him a “game wrecker” before the game and he absolutely lived up to the hype. He had two sacks, a forced fumble and seven pressures. But Duane Brown made him look like a man amongst children.

At one point in the third quarter Wilson was pressured on an astounding 69% of his drop backs, per @NextGenStats and I’m not sure that it got better.

I’m not sure if any member on the offensive line had a decent game. Lanken Tomlinson’s highlight was touching Jayron Kerse accidently on his interception. Mekhi Becton’s highlight was not jumping offsides or holding. It was a poor performance all around.

The defense took the bend but don’t break thing a little too far. They had some nice stands in the red zone holding the Cowboys to five field goals, but the fact remains that this Jets team won’t win too many games this season giving up 30 points.

I would call it a disappointing day for the defense and I’m sure they would say the same thing. What is concerning for me was their inability to slow down CeeDee Lamb who finished the game with 11 catches for 143 yards. With their corners, that should never be a stat line for an opposing receiver.

The coaches need to figure things out and do it fast. Nathaniel Hackett needs a better and simpler offensive plan going into next week. He had an offense built for Aaron Rodgers and now Rodgers isn’t there.

You can’t hide Zach Wilson forever and then just let him chuck it up late in the game when you are chasing points.

Jeff Ulbricht needs his defense to do a little less bending and play to your strengths. The defense is built to get to the QB with the front four. Stop with all the blitzing. Your corners are some of the best in the game, stop putting them strictly in zone.

So, now what Robert Saleh?

“It won’t snow ball. It’s not going to snowball. That (the Cowboys) is a good football team.”

I find that hard to believe.
