At one point during the offseason, people had New York Jets safety Jordan Whitehead as a potential cut candidate.

Now, he leads the NFL with three interceptions after just one week of play.

Whitehead, who is typically best as a hard-hitting box safety, had the game of his life on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills. He's never finished a full season with more than two interceptions – those three picks are a new career-high for interception in a season.

And, Whitehead made an extra $250k because he already hit his contractual incentive regarding interceptions.

Talk about a quick turnaround on investment. Sheesh.

The Jets defense is already an elite unit. If Whitehead can develop into an all-around safety, it will only make them even better.

Which is a scary thought for the other 31 offenses in the league.
