The 2025 NFL Draft class is a main topic of conversation right now. It is the offseason, so now everyone is focused on trying to improve their favorite football team. The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine is only a couple of weeks away, and the entire landscape is going to begin becoming clearer and clearer.
In this week's mailbag, we discuss the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns draft plans. Finding Day Three value at wide receiver, predicting Combine freaks, and quarterback development was also discussed. Here are the outstanding questions that were posed this week.
Drafting for the Packers
There are two positions that I’m really interested in early in the draft for the Packers, defensive tackle and cornerback. I think the dream scenario is Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant is there later in the first round. Green Bay could really use a nose tackle next to Kenny Clark inside. At 6-3 and 342 pounds, Grant has incredible power and unreal closing speed for his size. He isn’t there from a consistency perspective but the talent is immense.
My other dream for Green Bay if Grant isn’t available is ECU cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. At 6-1.5 and 188 pounds, Revels has a rare combination of length, long speed, and flexibility. If fully healthy, he has some unreal upside at the position. He reminds me a lot of former Chargers star Antonio Cromartie, minus the 14 kids.
Combine freaks
Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant could be one of them for sure. I expect him to test really well for his size. It also helps his RAS standing to be 342 pounds. If he does some nutty things from a testing perspective, that score should be very high.
South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori is another player who I could see high on the scoring scale, as well as Texas A&M EDGE Shemar Stewart. I could see him doing some crazy stuff from a testing perspective. There are some reports that he could run 4.6 high at 280 plus pounds.
Penn State tight end Tyler Warren also wouldn’t shock me, although he’s probably not super likely. My biggest wildcard is Texas offensive tackle Cameron Williams. He’s a massive kid who has some foot quickness and explosiveness. I’m not a huge fan of Williams as a prospect in general, but I could see him testing off of the charts.
Day 3 wide receivers to know
One of my favorite potential Day Three wide receivers is Maryland standout Kaden Prather. He didn’t take the jump I wanted in 2024, but Prather is a height-weight-speed freak that is worth begging on. Two of my biggest values are also Jaylin Noel (Iowa State) and Daniel Jackson (Minnesota). It’s possible that Noel ends up going Day Two after his Reese’s Senior Bowl performance, but both him and Jackson are very similar. They win more with quickness and savviness, but should each play in the NFL for a long time.
Value in the class
Yes, I tend to agree. I don’t think the 2026 class is very deep up top, but there is a lot of Day Two depth. The grading in that range should be pretty packed together. It really comes down to preference in terms of style, and what flavor you like best.
All-Dawg draft
Oh, this question is fun. It’s actually the time it has ever been asked of me as well. Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham would be first on my list. That dude has the physicality and dominance to completely transform a defense.
On the offensive line, I think West Virginia’s Wyatt Milum also fits that description. He’s most likely going to be transitioning inside to guard on the next level, but he plays with a nasty temperament. I love the way he plays.
Even though he isn’t the biggest he isn’t the biggest cornerback out there, good luck finding someone who carries themselves like Cobee Bryant. That dude is super physical and plays with a chip on his shoulder. The best part is that he is also going to let you know about it after he wins a rep.
BLESTO grading
To my knowledge, the grading is supposed to be for the current player. While we project a ton from a Summer scouting perspective, the spring grades from the NFL are supposed to be a baseline understanding of a player. It won’t be the last grade that is put on them, so there should be a great understanding that opinions will change.
Quarterback development
It’s absolutely hurting, as it is on the offensive line. Those are two positions that need experience. Live reps are so important to development, as well as technical refinement and physical development. When you are jumping from school to school so often, it really disrupts development, especially from a technical perspective. That can really hurt prospects, especially when teams are so impatient early on in their careers.
Worst case scenario for the Browns
I know this question was made in jest, but teams mess up all the time unfortunately. It would be a very Browns thing to somehow mess up the No. 2 overall selection with a couple of blue chip players on the board. There are two players that could sound the alarms, and one of them is taking Georgia EDGE Mykel Williams in that slot. While Williams is lower on the media side, the NFL is enamored with him. They are buying into the upside for the 6-5, 265-pound athlete, but that’s a scary gamble that high in the draft with lack of production.
It’s very, very unlikely but imagine a world where the Browns opt to take a quarterback at No. 2 and they decide that Ole Miss signal caller Jaxson Dart is the player they believe in. I refuse to believe the hype surrounding Dart but anything can happen. It would be a hilarious reality if that somehow happened.
