Pros of Christen Miller
- Explosive first step that helps him work his way into the backfield quickly
- Strong hands that help him knock offensive linemen out of their stances
- His brute strength shows up in the run game
- Versatile player that is comfortable playing the 1-tech, 3-tech and 5-tech
Cons of Christen Miller
- Develops tunnel vision at times as he tries to penetrate the back field and loses track of the ball carrier
- Will need to develop more pass-rush counters if he wants to be a three-down player in the NFL
- Still a bit of a raw prospect, which can be a good thing as well, but will probably hinder his ability to get on the field early during his rookie season
Background
Miller is a former four-star high school recruit who stayed home by committing to play for the Georgia Bulldogs. He spent four years with the Bulldogs redshirting his first and had a major role on the team over the last two years. He relies too much on his brute strength and athleticism at times, but he has next-level grit that will make coaches fall in love with him.
He is a natural-born winner who won two high school championships and experienced winning the national championship his true freshman year at Georgia. The next challenge in front of him will be trying to be a part of a Super Bowl champion defense.
Player Evaluation
Miller’s strength and athleticism combo give him a very exciting ceiling that will have NFL decision-makers excited to get him in their building. Compared to other top DTs in this class, though, he is more of a raw prospect. Teams looking for immediate help for the interior of their defensive line may look elsewhere in the early rounds. But if a team can be patient, Miller has the makings of a long-term foundational piece who can impact both the running and passing games at a high level.
