Selecting a quarterback in the NFL Draft is a difficult proposition. Rarely do every quarterback taken in the first round end up succeeding with the perfect example being the 2021 class.

Trevor Lawrence has been good while Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields and Mac Jones all got traded before the end of their rookie contract. If you find the guy, it's a testament to your organization's scouting process and abilities.

The other element that is interesting is how draft media views them. There is rarely a true consensus player that the entire industry rallies behind. Even Caleb Williams couldn't get that treatment despite his incredible ability.

Shedeur Sanders believes he's the best QB prospect

This upcoming NFL Draft class feels like a two-player race: Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Miami FL's Cam Ward.

Sanders took some time to speak to the media and emphatically declared that he isn't just the best quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class, but since he became eligible, which includes the 2024 class.

There is a certain level of confidence and moxie that Sanders exudes on a regular basis and it comes out in a big way here. Believing you are the best at the position is an objectively good thing, especially considering what you have to do once you get to the National Football League.

Now, is Sanders the best prospect in the last two classes? That is up to each individual analyst. I don't think that Sanders has the same athletic gifts that my top quarterback from last year Drake Maye but Sanders is a great prospect in his own right.

You love to see the confidence from Sanders and seeing how the NFL Draft shakes out come April will be fascinating.
