Background
Claiborne was considered to be a four-star player by two of the major recruiting platforms coming out in the 2022 class. A star at King William (Va.) High School, Claiborne ended up ranked as the No. 149 overall player, the No. 10 running back, and the No. 4 player from the state of Virginia, according to the 247 Sports rating. The 247 Sports Composite ranking, which takes each platform into consideration, also had him rated as a four-star and the No. 329 overall player in the class.
Despite some differences of opinion on Claiborne, he still had several impressive options coming out. Some of his top offers included the Demon Deacons, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Virginia, and Purdue, among many others. Right behind Donavon Greene in the 2019 class, Claiborne is the second-highest rated recruit to sign with Wake Forest football in 247 Sports history.
After playing mostly on special teams as a freshman in 2022, Claiborne became the featured runner in each of his final three seasons. During his career, Claiborne managed to rush for 2,599 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also hauled in another 55 receptions for 424 yards and two more scores as a receiver. The talent runner saw his yards per carry average increase every year of his career.
Player Evaluation

Claiborne was routinely deployed in a slow mesh system prior to the 2025 season, which helped his patience, even if it was hard to watch at times. Claiborne understands how to use angles to his advantage. He has many examples of eliminating angles once breaking the first and second levels. The lateral mobility for Claiborne is notable. Due to size and some obvious limitations, there is a very specific role on the NFL level that Claiborne will have to fill. The speed and big play potential he brings, however, does provide a floor for him to stick in that role. As a change-of-pace runner, Claiborne should fill an important role in a committee approach for a longer stretch.
