Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia
Height/Weight: 6-8, 340
Age: 21.5
Strengths
- Athleticism: Elite movement skills for someone that possesses his frame. Nothing is stressed in his lower half when asked to kick slide or down block
- Balance: Would expect someone that’s 6-8 to get too far in front of himself but he routinely plays with appropriate leverage
- Footwork: Immaculate precision for his frame. Tight technique that only builds off his athleticism
Areas of Improvement-Concerns
- Durability: Sustained multiple injuries over the course of his career including two separate one’s in 2023 and then again at the NFL Combine
- Experience: Only eight starts during his tenure at Georgia
- Rawness: Between injuries and a lack of starts, Mims will have a ways to go fundamentally before he’s a plug and play starter
Evaluation:
As a league source told me regarding Mims, “he looks and plays like someone built in a lab.” Undoubtedly the tackle with the highest ceiling in the class, Mims is a player that no offensive line coach wouldn’t bang on the table for. But an injury plagued final year and lack of experience may have teams looking for a day one starter hesitant to pick up the phone in the first round, while others throw caution to the wind and potentially even trade up for him.
