Pros
- Speed-Stride Length
Long limbs don’t always look like they’re moving but his stride length closes cushions and creates gaps between him and DBs - Catch Radius
Elongated physique and arms make virtually all passes unlimited and within range - Acceleration
Surprising burst off the line with the ability to get to top speed much faster than his body type would suggest
Cons
- Balance
Tends to topple over on some routes likely due to his length and issues bending or dropping weight in and out of cuts - Drops
Tends to fight the ball. Doesn’t always look it in all the way, trying to get upfield before securing the catch - Plays Small
Would like to see him play more physical given his omnipresent frame that dwarfs most of the corners he matches up against
Eval:
Wilson is one of the more interesting evaluations in the draft class thanks to his athleticism and elongated physique that would immediately make him one of, if not the tallest WR in the league.
His length and height come with obvious advantages like catch radius and contested catches but are also limiting factors in his route tree and ability to sink in and out of breaks.
There has been talk of Wilson potentially moving to tight end, but unless he’s usually exclusively as a flexed out F, placing him in-line as a Y would expose his lack of physicality and blocking technique, making him best served for in a role as a supersized X WR
Floor Comp: A.T. Perry
Long X WR that can win on a vertical plane but struggles in the intermediate and underneath areas of the field
Ceiling Comp: Plaxico Burress
Premier redzone threat and jump ball merchant that is a QB's best friend when the team needs a bailout in obvious man coverage situations
