Will Campbell, OT, LSU

Height: 6'6
Weight: 323

Strengths:

  • Play Strength: Will Campbell possesses very good play strength to both anchor against powerful rushers and displace opposing defenders in the run game. Campbell generates consistent movement at the point of attack, even against bigger rushers.
  • Athleticism: Campbell is an effortless mover in space. He is quickly and smoothly able to climb to the second level and displays a very good ability to redirect and land on his assigned defender out in space. Campbell's athleticism gives him the ability to recover quickly after initially losing a rep. Everything he does looks silky smooth, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him be one of the top testers at the Combine this season.
  • Technique: From a technical and fundamental standpoint, Campbell is one of the most NFL-ready prospects to hit the draft in recent years. He is consistently accurate with his hands in both the run and pass game. I've yet to see him blow an assignment and he can handle stunts and sort out rushers quickly. He will mix up his hands and his timing with his punches pairs well with his natural power to jolt opposing rushers and stymie their advances.
  • Intangibles: Multiple scouts have raved about his leadership of the team, as well as his mental toughness and understanding of the game.

Weaknesses:

  • Frame: Unfortunately, Will Campbell's natural frame will limit his projection to the NFL. He has below 33-inch arms, which backs up his struggles against lengthier rushers on film. This likely points to him being a candidate to move inside to guard at the next level.
  • Inside Shoulder: While this is a minor thing that should get corrected with a move inside, Campbell tends to leave his inside shoulder open when facing off against speedier rushers. Against Texas A&M, Nic Scourton was able to hit him inside a few times, with a pretty notable spin move on one rep that flummoxed Campbell.

Player Evaluation:

Will Campbell is a very easy evaluation and might be the easiest to make in the entire 2025 NFL Draft class. He's an elite prospect who supports his very good athletic ability with elite technique. Coaches and scouts rave about his mental makeup, and he became the first LSU offensive lineman to be awarded the Number 7 patch, given to the team's top playmaker from Louisiana.

His biggest issues as a prospect will be mitigated with a move inside to guard, and that move can also allow his skillset to shine with his fundamentals and athleticism. In my mind, there's no reason why he can't be a plug-and-play guard in any scheme with Pro-Bowl-caliber ability while still on his rookie contract.

To sum him up as a prospect: Will Campbell is a physical, athletic, fundamentally sound leader of an OL room who will come in and set the tone for the rest of the starting five with very good play strength, use of hands, and IQ. He raises both the floor and ceiling of a unit and should be an immediate starter.

Player Comparison:

Chris Lindstrom (Atlanta Falcons)

Campbell, much like Lindstrom, is a fantastic athlete and possesses an elite blend of fundamentals, power, and awareness to effectively stifle opposing pass rushers and create holes single-handedly in the run game. It shouldn't take Campbell long to find success in the NFL.
