Pros:

  • Power Profile
Boasting an impressive frame at 6-3 and 339 pounds, Grant is a dominant run defender at times at the point of attack. He is very hard to move off of his spot when he digs his heels in, possesses strong hands, and a powerful lower half.
  • Short area quickness
When you look at Grant, you can quickly have an assumption for what he should be as a player. Surely he’s a pure nose with limited movement skills. Then you see how quickly Grant can get off the ball at times, and it quickly dispels that assumption.
  • Penetration upside
For a nose tackle who is supposed to stay in a phone booth and make a ton of plays at the point of attack, Grant has a propensity to make some flash plays. He has clear one-gap upside, and has playmaking upside to continue tapping into.

Cons:

  • Pad level
While Grant is a very powerful player, his pad level has compromised that too often. He plays high too often, which allows opposing offensive linemen to go underneath him. That base gets compromised too often.
  • Overall awareness
There are more than a handful of plays where Grant wins, but doesn’t adjust quick enough to finish plays. It appears at times that there is a general lack of awareness, which can cause him to put himself out of position at times.
  • Conditioning
When you are a player as big as Grant, conditioning can generally be a bit of an issue at times. When he fires out low and is fresh, he is a hart person to deal with. When he’s clearly tired, his effectiveness drops. Getting his body into the best possible shape would be huge for optimism performance.

Player Evaluation:

Out of all of the rest of the interior defensive lineman in the 2025 NFL Draft, Grant is the one who appears like the clearest nose tackle of the group. The combination of size and raw power should allow him to serve in either an even or odd man front, possessing substantial upside in either system.

Grant is best served to play in an attack style system that allows their defensive lineman to attack one gap. The overall upside that Grant possesses is going to go down to his attention to detail. He will need to become more consistent in terms of pad level, and hand play, to develop into a plus starter in the NFL.

Player Comparison:

True nose tackle prospect with massive upside and rare movement skills, but some volatility due to needed technical refinement.
