It's long been said that the NFL is an offense-first league, and the 2024 draft has hammered that point home emphatically.

The first 14 selections were spent on offense, shattering the previous record (7 in 2021) for the most consecutive offensive selections to start a draft.

That run was aided by six quarterbacks coming off the board in the first 12 picks, also an NFL first, with the Atlanta Falcons stunningly taking Michael Penix Jr. eighth overall before J.J. McCarthy went 10th to the Minnesota Vikings and Bo Nix was selected 12th by the Denver Broncos.

Quarterbacks had gone one two and three to start the draft as Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye quickly flew off the board.

The run was finally ended by the Indianapolis Colts, who took the draft's first defensive player when they selected UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu 15th overall.

Latu will look to add a big-time boost to the Colts' pass rush, but a historic draft will be defined by the success and failures of those quarterbacks who played the most critical role in a remarkable run.
