The 2025 NFL Draft has a lot of uncertainty at the top of the class, meaning there's room for shocking results come April. The quarterback class has been maligned, but the need for quarterbacks is at an all-time high. Five teams in the top seven picks could take a quarterback.
While Shedeur Sanders and Cameron Ward continue to be projected to go in the top three picks of most 2025 NFL mock drafts, former ESPN NFL Draft expert and insider Todd McShay said there's a third candidate in the race to leapfrog one of them. The current The Ringer podcast host said Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart is in the mix.
"Of the scouts I have talked to, there are some that have Jaxson Dart as a legitimate QB 2."
Before the 2025 Senior Bowl week began, McShay had shared some of his evaluations of the former USC and Ole Miss playmaker.
"Just wrapped up two tapes on Jaxson Dart (LSU, SC ‘24). Neither were great stat-line gms and LSU was a loss, but a LOT of positive takeaways. His natural ball placement is underrated and he shows a lot of awareness on certain throws. Really excited to share more throughout Senior Bowl week, but don’t be surprised if Dart winds up as QB3 in this class!"
