When you talk about pure pass rushers in the 2025 NFL Draft class, there aren’t many more physically gifted than Ole Miss star Princely Umanmielen. A toolsy wildcard while a member of the Florida Gators, Umanmielen really hit a whole other level in his lone season with the Rebels. During that 2024 campaign, he finished the season with 37 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
As you can imagine, several prominent NFL teams are showing heavy interest. You can never have enough pass rushers, and the teams know that. Umanmielen spoke to the media on Wednesday at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. So far, the talented defender has had three formal meetings with the Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Baltimore Ravens.
Meetings at the Combine can be seriously overstated this time of year, but there is a huge difference between meeting informally and formally. For the latter, that usually shows a much higher level of interest. There are only so many hours in the day, and they have to use their time wisely.
It also isn’t much of a surprise to see three playoff teams showing interest in such a talented pass rusher. As Eagles general manager Howie Roseman stated earlier this week, you can never have enough offensive or defensive linemen. Philadelphia also may lose both Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham this offseason, so finding depth on the edge will be crucial.
The Buccaneers are also a team looking for pass rush help desperately, specifically coming off of the edge. The leading sackers from a defensive end on the team was actually Logan Hall, who managed just 5.5 on the year. YaYa Diaby was pretty banged up throughout the year and managed just 4.5 sacks himself, followed by Anthony Nelson with four. They need to find help to that struggling pass rush unit.
In comparison, the Ravens did have a lot more success from a pass rush perspective. Both Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh managed to collect double digit sacks, finishing with 12.5 and ten respectively. Outside of those two, however, the Ravens didn’t get a ton of production from the other EDGE defenders on the roster. Someone like Umanmielen could upgrade that very quickly.
