Strengths

  • Stunt Recognition: Excellent job of picking up movement and course correcting vs loopers
  • Anchor: Sufficent strength and technique to hold up against bull rushes and protect pocket width

Areas of Improvement-Concerns

  • Reach Blocks: Tends to miss and lose across his face or have trouble reaching his landmark
  • Sustaining: Doesn’t possess elite steer or the grip strength to become latched once engaged
  • Balance: On the ground far too often. Tends to be the result of missed blocks or penetrating defenders winning on blow by’s.

Evaluation:

Fashanu projects as a first round tackle and top 10-15 pick thanks to his tangible traits that include tremendous length and athleticism. He has some technique issues, but given his age and relative experience, the right coaching staff can mold him into being the Pro Bowl talent that his potential suggests.
