Kelvin Banks, Offensive Tackle, Texas
Height: 6'4
Weight: 324
Strengths:
- Athleticism: Banks is a silky-smooth athlete on the move. He's a fluid athlete dropping into his pass sets and when he closes in the run game. Right at the snap, Banks is quick off the line of scrimmage and easily gets to his assignment. I'm a huge fan of watching him pull and lead block, and he has the change-of-direction ability to nail defenders at the second level.
- Use of Hands: Banks is a refined technician in both the run and pass games. He displays quick, powerful, and accurate strikes that more often than not will completely stifle opposing pass rushers.
- Veteran Savvy: Kelvin Banks, game in and game out, demonstrates that he knows what exactly opposing pass rushers will throw at him and will come in with specific plans to stop it. His IQ and awareness of the game are well ahead of his age, and should give him plenty of fans among NFL coaches.
Weaknesses:
- Play Strength: This isn't to say that Banks is weak, but some reps have given me some concern about how his play strength will hold up at the next level. His anchor will give ground against more powerful rushers at the college level, particularly so in their game against Georgia.
- Length: While we don't have a verified arm length for Kelvin Banks just yet, it's pretty obvious that he doesn't boast anything more than just average length. Georgia's Mykel Williams gave him fits with his 36-inch arms, and Banks will have to learn to adjust to the length that NFL rushers will boast every week.
- Scheme: Banks is coming from a Texas scheme that just simply doesn't ask him to a ton of sets, due to the nature of their offense. Texas is built around quick-game throws and RPOs, so Banks mainly sets in a 45-degree set. While he has the ability to execute a wider group of passing sets, he'll have to adjust to what should be a more diverse offense at the next level.
Player Evaluation:
Banks is a fun watch for those of us who enjoy studying offensive line play. His mixture of athleticism, intelligence, and savviness blend well together in his 6'4, 324-pound frame. While there may be concerns about his length and play strength, there's no denying Banks has some of the best film of any lineman in this 2025 NFL Draft class.

Player Comparison:
Jake Matthews (Atlanta Falcons)
People often forget about Matthews in the conversation for the top offensive tackles in the NFL, but he belongs in the top tiers every season. Matthews, much like Banks, doesn't boast good length and play strength, but he makes up for it with smooth athleticism and great technique. Banks's craftiness immediately drew Matthews to mind. Let's not forget he was drafted sixth overall in 2014.
