Strengths

Athleticism: Charles Grant is a gifted athlete at offensive tackle and should be one of the top testers in the class. He has very good quickness and explosiveness out of his stance and plays with very good body control throughout the rep. His ability to cut off backside defensive ends and tackles popped off the film, and gives me the confidence he can execute any block asked of him. Grant was the best athlete on the field in every game I watched of his film. In pass protection, Grant has the fluidity and range to mirror rushers around the edge effortlessly as well.

Length: Grant has verified 35 5/8-inch arms, according to The Athletic's Dane Brugler. That's 92nd percentile in the NFL and it pops on film. He knows how to use his length as well to keep defenders out of his chest.

Competitive Toughness: Grant plays how you would want to see a player jumping up from the FCS. He knows he's the best player on the field and he backs it up, routinely finishing defenders to the ground.

Weaknesses

Pass Protection Technique: Grant isn't "raw" in a developmental sense, but he still has some technical concerns to iron out in pass protection. I'd like to see his strike timing and hand placement continue to improve. I did notice some occasional hitches in his passing set but his athleticism lets him recover with ease.

Anchor: Grant is listed at 300 pounds but feels lighter than that on film. He plays stronger than everyone at the FCS level, but does that anchor and play strength translate into the NFL?

Lack of Competition: The Senior Bowl is going to be critical for Grant's evaluation. If he proves himself against better competition in Mobile, I wouldn't be surprised if Grant's name starts to get placed in the top-50 pick conversation. For now, however, it remains a TBD in his evaluation.

Player Evaluation

Charles Grant is one of the most intriguing offensive linemen in this class. In a draft class lacking a lot of intrigue at the top, his athletic tools and competitive toughness make him a standout prospect to consider. He might end up being the top tester in the class when the Combine ends.

Zone offenses will love him, particularly outside zone-heavy teams, with his movement skills and length. I won't call him scheme-transcendent until I see his play strength win against better competition, but he has the tools to develop into a starting-caliber tackle for an outside zone team.

Player Comparison

Brian O'Neill (Minnesota Vikings)

This one isn't a perfect comp, given that O'Neill is a smidgen taller than Grant, but the two have very similar playstyles and skill sets. O'Neill's game is built around his elite athleticism and technique that help hide his iffy anchor and play strength. Grant is longer than O'Neill, but I see a similar trajectory for him if Grant proves himself at the Senior Bowl.
