NFL spills the beans on surprise special guest performer joining Kendrick Lamar for Super Bowl halftime performance

The Super Bowl halftime show just got a whole lot better.
On Thursday, the NFL announced that SZA will be joining Kendrick Lamar at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
SZA was featured on Lamar's newest album, GNX, on "Luther" and "Gloria." The rapper was also is featured on SZA's SOS Deluxe: Lana track, "30 for 30."
The duo are touring together starting in April, performing in 19 different stadiums across North America. So, SZA is the perfect person to join him.
Lamar shared a clip on his social media accounts, with him on a football field speaking on the phone. During the conversation, he explains that he wants to bring in someone else for the performance.
“I’ve been thinking about a guest performer,” he states.
And then, the video cuts to a photo of SZA pouring a cooler of blue gatorade on Lamar.
The Super Bowl halftime show is the biggest performance of the NFL season, but there are some other musical guests lined up for the week leading up to the big event.
At the beginning of January, EA Sports announced on Thursday that country artists Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll and Shaboozey will all headline the Madden Bowl. And Rising Country Star Tucker Wetmore will also be there to kick things off.
"Madden in an unforgettable celebration of football,” John Reseburg, VP, Marketing, Partnerships, and Communications for EA SPORTS said in a press release. “New Orleans is one of the greatest and most passionate sports cities in the world, and with a line-up including Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll, Shaboozey, and more, this is going to be an absolutely electric night at EA SPORTS Presents Madden Bowl.”
And Shaboozey is very excited to be back on stage at an NFL event after making a guest appearance with Beyonce on Thanksgiving during the Baltimore Ravens– Houston Texans halftime show
“2024 was an unforgettable year for me with a lot of highs, including performing at a NFL halftime show on Thanksgiving. Now I can't wait to keep the party going with EA SPORTS and football fans from all over at Madden Bowl,” Shaboozey said in the statement.
This event will take place on Friday night of Super Bowl LIX week in New Orleans at the Orpheum Theater.
The top 25 Madden NFL players will face off in the Madden Bowl, dividing up $1 million to the best players in the country. Following this event, EA sports will also host an Exclusive “99 Club” After Party, with other artists expected to be in attendance (and even headline).
