The Arizona Cardinals lost a heartbreaker in their season opener to the Washington Commanders, 20-16.
Despite looking better than expected and even holding a 13-10 lead at halftime, the Cardinals just couldn't get going on offense and wound up losing the game. QB Josh Dobbs, after arriving just a few weeks ago, showed the team that he's deserving of the starting quarterback position with star Kyler Murray out for the season.
In the contest, the Cardinals found themselves in the national media for all the wrong reasons. After an alleged dirty play, national pundits started calling out the roster.
Around midway through the first quarter, Commanders QB Sam Howell scrambled out of the pocket and was being brought down and tackled. That's when Kyzir White stepped in for a blow on the defenseless quarterback, immediately drawing criticism from fans across the league. Take a look at the play below and see for yourself.
It's nearly impossible to try and guess what's going through the minds of these players, especially with how fast the game is. We will admit, that it doesn't look good at first and this type of play could result in serious injury.
Here's hoping that next week we can talk about an exciting victory as opposed to a dirty hit in the contest as the Cardinals are making their preparations to take on the New York Giants.
