It will be all about taking a step forward for the Arizona Cardinals in 2024 and the way they can do that is building this offseason.

That can be done through the draft, free agency, and even the trade market. The Cardinals could look to fill a need with a Pro Bowler at wide receiver and they’re even a fit to do so.

Arizona has been named as a potential landing spot for Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson.

“With Marquise “Hollywood” Brown slated to hit free agency, the Cardinals WR room is one of the least proven in the league, hence the common mock of Marvin Harrison Jr. or a different rookie WR to the team at 4. But even then, the team would lack a tenured weapon on the perimeter, something they will need if they want to go all in around Kyler Murray, making Diontae Johnson an enticing option.” – Rob Gregson, A to Z Sports.

The Cardinals insist that they want to build around Murray and there is no better way to do that than making it happen. It is very possible that Arizona doubles up and drafts a wide receiver high and then either trade for one or looks at a free agent.

Johnson would give them a player has produced from day No. 1 in the NFL. His best season and only Pro Bowl came in 2021 when he had 1,161 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. In 2023, Johnson put together 717 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 13 games.

It seems like a move that could get done with a middle-round pick. With Brown on his way out of Arizona likely, bringing in Johnson would be a nice way to make up for it.
