The Cardinals still have an opportunity to add a potential starter to help QB Kyler Murray if they choose to do so

Free agency additions can make or break a playoff run in the NFL. For the Arizona Cardinals, they could look to add a veteran on their offensive line to improve their depth and potentially even their starting lineup.

A possible offensive line addition that would make sense

Brandon Scherff is an interior offensive lineman who would be a solid fit in Arizona. Kyler Murray was running for his life a season ago, and there have been nearly no notable upgrades made this offseason along their OL unit.

Brandon Scherff, Guard – Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals put almost all of their resources on defense, not taking an offensive player until the sixth round in the draft—and the most expensive free agent addition for the offense was backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Right now, the projected starting guards are Evan Brown and Isaiah Adams, so the Cardinals could certainly improve. A 33-year-old former First-Team All-Pro and five times Pro Bowler, Scherff was cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars for money reasons, but he can still offer a solid level of play, especially in pass protection. — Wendell Ferreira

Scherff would probably slot right in as a starter in Arizona, possibly over Evan Brown or Isaiah Adams. Neither player gives the Cardinals a particularly high ceiling, and Scherff's experience may work wonders for the other young talent on their offense.

The 33-year-old hasn't missed a game in three years, proving his availability and reliability. Think that signing would be really smart for Arizona.

A wide open NFC West for Arizona

Not to mention, the NFC West is wide open in 2025. Multiple teams have been hit with a stark shift along their roster or coaching staff.

The San Francisco 49ers lost a lot of important pieces this offseason but are well-coached. You can never rule them out. The Seattle Seahawks hit a reset switch, moving from Geno Smith to Sam Darnold at quarterback and trading away DK Metcalf. As for the Los Angeles Rams, they may be the most complete team in the division. Their defense is young and talented, while their offense should be able to continue churning.

The Cardinals cannot afford to struggle in front of Kyler Murray again this year, or it could cost them any shot at winning the NFC West. Scherff would help solidify the trenches for Arizona.
