The NFL is full of surprises. For the Arizona Cardinals and plenty of fans around the country, they received some notable news on Wednesday morning that will shake up their plans for game day. Marvin Harrison Jr. won’t play in Week 11 and possibly miss even more time than that.

Marvin Harrison Jr. will miss at least one game due to appendicitis

According to reports, the Cardinals top wideout will miss at least one game after he underwent surgery for appendicitis. He could miss more than just this week, and it’s fair to think that Arizona may not rush him back amid struggles this season.

This news came out of nowhere for plenty of people involved, including anyone who has Harrison in fantasy football. Harrison had just started to get into a consistent groove when it comes to production, totaling at least ten targets in back to back games and scoring a touchdown in both.

Now, both his fantasy squads and his actual team must turn to other options at wide receiver for now. We will see how long he is out due to the surgery.

Injuries piling up at pass catcher for Arizona

The news of Harrison’s absence is only compounded by other ailments around the roster. WR Zay Jones tore his Achillles last Sunday vs. the Seahawks. He will miss the rest of the season. Jones was placed on injured reserve by Arizona, and the organization made a plethora of roster moves on Wednesday.

Jacoby Brissett remains the starter at quarterback for the Cards, so this timeline won’t be easy for him without Harrison and Jones. Trey McBride has proven to be one of the best tight ends in football, but defense will be able to key in on him for the time being. That may be a cause of concern for the upside of the passing game for Arizona, but they have to find ways to get him the football in space if they want any chance of winning games right now.

Running back Trey Benson remains on injured reserve and has not yet had his practice window opened by the team. Johnathan Gannon noted that he is taking it “day by day” as of now. Only time will tell if he can return in the coming weeks.
