The Atlanta Falcons found out on Monday morning that they will be without defensive tackle Grady Jarrett for the remainder of the year.

Jarrett, 30, suffered a season-ending torn ACL injury in Sunday's 28-23 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Prior to Week 8's outing, it was reported by The Athletic's Dianna Russini that the Falcons were "standing pat" and wouldn't make a move ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.

However, Grady's injury could now change things, according to Russini and Josh Kendall:

"Jarrett’s injury could make it more likely that Atlanta pursues a defensive lineman before the trade deadline. The Falcons have some flexibility there because they could add a tackle or an end. If they add an end, Calais Campbell could move inside after staring at end for the first eight games."

Let's take a look at three defensive linemen the Falcons could trade for.

Montez Sweat, EDGE, Washington Commanders

Washington is taking all calls for almost everyone on their roster, including defensive end Montez Sweat.

Sweat, 27, has logged 6.5 sacks in 2023 so far and 35.5 total sacks through 67 career games. He'd make an immediate impact on a Falcons defense that's missing their leader.

It would also be a happy homecoming for Sweat who went to high school in Stone Mountain.

Washington is said to be asking for at least a third or second-round pick in exchange for Sweat and according to Pro Football Talk, the Falcons have already placed a third-round pick on the table for him.

It helps that the Commanders lost on Sunday, making them more likely to move on from one of their top defenders.

Chase Young, EDGE, Washington Commanders

Commanders DE Chase Young

Just like Sweat, the Commanders are open to moving Chase Young.

If the Falcons can't get Sweat, then Young is a decent backup plan, though he could be an injury risk.

After winning the 2020 AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award, Young's career was riddled with injuries. He suffered a season-ending ACL tear in 2021 and didn't make a return until the last three games of the 2022 season.

Because of this, the Commanders declined his fifth-year option, which means he'll be a free agent at the conclusion of this football season.

Despite an injured past, the former second-overall pick out of Ohio State has 5 sacks through just seven games in 2023 thus far.

Derek Barnett, EDGE, Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles DE Derek Barnett

NFL rumors sparked during the preseason that Derek Barnett wanted to move on from the Eagles, who granted him permission to seek a trade.

Unfortunately, nothing came about for the former first-round pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Eagles' pass rush depth runs deep with talent and Barnett has only gotten lost on the depth chart. He played just seven defensive snaps in the Eagles' most recent win over the Commanders on Sunday.

Now could be a good time for Barnett to switch teams if he has any interest in playing for the Falcons as an immediate impact play.

Other defensive linemen on the trade block that the Falcons could look into include Carolina Panthers edge Brian Burns, Tennessee Titans edge Harold Landry, and Minnesota Vikings edge Danielle Hunter.

Atlanta has until Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET to make a move.
