The Atlanta Falcons hired Raheem Morris as their next head coach earlier this week, and some fans were shocked by the franchise passing on hot candidates such as Bill Belichick and Mike Vrabel.
Executive vice president of the Blank Family Business, Brett Jewkes, took to X/Twitter to share exclusive behind-the-scenes details on why the Falcons went with Morris over anyone else.
For starters, Jewkes made it known that he and the rest of Atlanta's front office were over the moon about how well Morris' first interview went, calling it "electric."
He noted that these interviews lasted anywhere from 4.5 to six hours.
But it was Morris' second interview that stood out because of how well-prepared he was and how it happened to be "even" better than the first.
Morris comes with plenty of experience coaching both sides of the ball and he was also a head coach at Tampa Bay, which some will highlight as a bad thing on his resume since the Bucs went 17-31 under him.
However, Jewkes said that Morris' time in LA under Rams head coach Sean McVay over these last three years has elevated him as a coach and person.
He added that he's "jacked" about Morris and believes he and general manager Terry Fontenot will be a "dynamic" duo and that a "big, fun offseason" awaits.
Jewkes also pointed out that endorsements from guys like McVay and Mike Tomlin mean a lot more than from some random media person.
He adds that he loved seeing "how excited" players and several Falcons staff members were about the new hire.
Jewkes ended his long rant by saying he was high on many of their other candidates and that there's "great young talent out there."
Oh, and, "Rise Up!"
