The Atlanta Falcons will now be searching for a new head coach, as the news surfaced that they have fired Arthur Smith late at night, after a tough Week 18 loss to the New Orleans Saints, ion what saw them get blown out.
Some fans, or maybe even most fans, have been asking for this for some time. The team hasn't improved much during his time in Atlanta, and the way he was running things wasn't sitting right with people.
Smith was hired as the head coach in 2021, where he went 7-10. He finished 7-10 last season, and finished 7-10 this season. No real improvements were made.
Now the Falcons will be looking for a new head coach, and luckily for them, there are several great candidates during this cycle.
Here is the statement that owner Arthur Blank released:
Smith will likely be back in an offensive role next season, whether it be as an offensive coordinator or an assistant.
