It's draft week, which means these NFL mock drafts are almost done with — well until people attempt to drop their way too early 2025 mock drafts next Monday.
But with that said, A to Z Sports released its final 2024 NFL mock draft and they have the Atlanta Falcons selecting a priority need and fan favorite in Alabama edge Dallas Turner.
A to Z Sports cites that the Falcons already checked off their quarterback need with Kirk Cousins and the fact that they haven't had a double-digit sack leader in almost a decade:
I know what you’re thinking… Another mock draft that has the Falcons taking Dallas Turner… but it makes too much sense to take him if he’s available. Atlanta checked off their quarterback need by signing Kirk Cousins to a massive deal in free agency, so it's a bit easier to prioritize their needs heading into the draft. One of said priorities is their pass rush, which has been ongoing for some time, now. In fact, the Falcons have failed to have a player log over 10 sacks since Vic Beasley did it in 2016 (#PTSD). Adding a 6-foot-3, 247-pound, explosive sack machine like Turner would not be a reach— he would be the difference-maker that helps take the Falcons’ overall defense go from good to great.
Turner is fresh off a 2023 season where he totaled 11 sacks and 55 total pressures with the Crimson Tide.
He's known for his impressive athleticism and explosive 4.4 speed and has been compared to Carolina Panthers' sack machine Brian Burns.
There's no doubt that Turner would pair well alongside Grady Jarrett and bolster the Falcons' weak pass rush, making him the perfect pick at No. 8 overall.
The waiting and guessing game is close to being over as the 2024 NFL Draft officially kicks off this Thursday, April 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
