Atlanta Falcons' dual-threat running back Bijan Robinson was active in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Tampa Bay Buccanneers, however, he had a single meaningless carry that didn't come until the final drive of the game.
His lack of action in the game raised some eyebrows and head coach Arthur Smith told NFL reporter Kristina Pink at the half that Robinson was "just not feeling great."
The thing that caught many off guard is that Robinson wasn't listed on the Falcons' official injury report at all ahead of the matchup.
After the game, Robinson said he woke up Sunday morning with headaches and was "feeling completely out of it."
Knowing this, the Falcons still kept him active.
Now, the NFL is going to "follow up with the club," according to Mike Florio's Pro Football Talk.
Florio adds that the Falcons could have tried to fly under the radar for their own personal gain, which could result in a fine:
"There’s a clear strategic incentive in such situations to say nothing. It’s for the NFL to create a disincentive strong enough to deter teams from keeping quiet. Otherwise, teams that are trying to win football games (especially if/when the coach of the team thinks he might be approaching the hot seat) will choose to say nothing and regard the penalty as a cost of doing business they way in which the team chooses to do so."
It will be interesting to see what the final verdict is and how hefty the fine is…if there is one.
