It's a new era in Atlanta under Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, who just made the three biggest decisions of his coaching tenure.
On Monday, Morris and the Falcons officially named their next offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator.
Zac Robinson – Offensive Coordinator
Robinson, 37, follows Morris from Los Angeles.
The former NFL quarterback kicked off his coaching career in 2019 with the Rams where he has spent the last four seasons serving first as an assistant quarterbacks coach, followed by the wide receivers coach (2021), and then as passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach (2022-23).
Robinson is credited with helping Matt Stafford during his first season in LA when he finished ranked in the top 5 in several categories, including passing yards, passing touchdowns, passing first downs and yards per attempt.
He is also responsible for helping the Rams offense get the most out of Cooper Kupp and figuring out ways to operate without Kupp when he was sidelined.
Jimmy Lake – Defensive Coordinator
Lake, 47, is also no stranger to Morris and also joins the Falcons from the Rams.
In 2007 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Lake worked as Morris' assistant defensive backs coach. After a short stint with the Detroit Lions, Lake returned to Tampa as their defensive backs coach in 2010 when Morris was in his second season as the Bucs' head coach.
After that, Lake made a name for himself in the college football realm. He started as the defensive backs/passing game coordinator at Boise State before moving on to Washington where he worked his way up to defensive coordinator and finally head coach by 2020.
During his time as a DC, Lake coached a Huskies defensive unit that ranked atop the Pac-12 in 2018.
He was relieved of his coaching duties in 2021 following a sideline incident with a player.
Marquice Williams – Special Teams Coordinator
Williams, 38, was retained as the Falcons special teams coordinator.
He has spent the past three seasons in Atlanta.
In 2022, Williams coached a top-5 special teams unit that scored two touchdowns, one off a punt block and another on kick return.
He is responsible for his stellar work with Younghoe Koo, who remains one of the most consistent kickers in the NFL.
Before Atlanta, Williams was a special teams assistant for the Detroit Lions (2019-20) and coached defense and special teams for the Las Angeles Chargers (2016-18).
