The Atlanta Falcons have interviewed Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonal for their head coach opening, the team announced on Friday.

Atlanta conducted Macdonald's interview virtually since in-person interviews are prohibited by the league until the conclusion of the Divisional Playoff games on Jan. 21.

Macdonald, 36, comes from a winning culture and is one of the main reasons why Baltimore finished the 2023 regular season 13-4 and heads into the playoffs as the AFC's No. 1 seed. Under Macdonald, the Ravens' defense ranked first in scoring and takeaways and sixth in total yards allowed.

Macdonald is the first coach the Falcons have interviewed so far.

Atlanta has requested to interview the following offensive coordinators: Detroit Lions' Ben Johnson, Houston Texans' Bobby Slowik and Cincinnati Bengals' Brian Callahan.

And the following defensive coordinators: Lions' Aaron Glenn, San Francisco 49ers' Steve Wilks, Los Angeles Rams' Raheem Morris and Carolina Panthers' coordinator Ejiro Evero

Additionally, the Falcons are scheduled to interview Ravens defensive line coach and associate head coach Anthony Weaver on Sunday, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
