The Atlanta Falcons have a need at quarterback that they could easily address in the 2024 NFL Draft, which is stacked with QB prospects.

In fact one of the top quarterback prospects and a fan favorite, Michael Penix Jr., is not opposed to coming to Atlanta.

“If the Falcons want me, I’ll be grateful to go there," Penix said, via Fox 5 Atlanta's Sudu Upadhyay.

The Washington product led the Huskies to a national championship appearance in 2023 while throwing for 4,903 yards, 36 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Although the Huskies lost the title game 34-13 to Michigan, Penix's regular season play earned him a potential first-round pick label.

Falcons Might Not Want Penix

A to Z Sports' NFL draft expert Destin Adams wrote up an evaluation on Penix that highlighted the Washington QB's best and worst attributes.

Some of Penix's best qualities include arm strength, pocket presence, short-term memory, deep ball accuracy, and willingness to learn.

The Falcons don't need a dual-threat quarterback since they have Bijan Robinson to handle the ground game, so Penix fits well in a Falcons offense that has tight end Kyle Pitts and wide receiver Drake London waiting to be used.

However, Adams believes his age and injury history could cause the Falcons or any team to look over him.

At 24 years old he's much older for a rookie quarterback and has suffered several injuries, including two torn ACLs.

The Falcons haven't been able to get it right at quarterback for the last three years, so they're going to be extra cautious with whomever they decide to take to be their future franchise QB.

If they don't think it's Penix, there's still Drake Maye (UNC), Bo Nix (Oregon), Shedeur Sanders (Colorado), J.J. McCarthy (Michigan), Caleb Williams (USC) and Jayden Daniels (LSU) to consider.
