Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton’s performance in last month's AFC title game drew mixed reviews.
While Hamilton helped slow down the Kansas City Chiefs' ground game, he did have a difficult time in coverage. The second-year safety allowed eight catches, one touchdown, and a 129.2 passer rating in the contest.
Chiefs safety Justin Reid kept a close watch on Hamilton throughout the game, and he was impressed to see him take on the responsibility of covering tight end Travis Kelce. Overall, Reid sees much potential for Hamilton in the NFL.
"Kyle Hamilton, he’s going to be a star," Reid said at Super Bowl Opening Night. "The guy’s got length, he’s physical, he blitzes, makes plays. … He had a tall task guarding 'Trav' all day, I know from personal experience it’s not easy to do at all.
"That kid is going to be a star."
Hamilton’s roller-coaster showing in the AFC title game should not make one forget about the rest of his second season with the Ravens. He allowed a mere 38.4 passer rating in coverage and was named to the 2023 AP First-Team All-Pro roster last month.
The Ravens sure have a special talent in Hamilton.
