Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has frustrated plenty of linebackers over the years, including Shaquille Leonard.
The previous time that Leonard squared off with the Jackson-led Ravens offense, he had a front-row seat to watch the all-around quarterback put together one of the more potent performances of his career. The two-time Pro Bowler led the way in Baltimore’s comeback win against the Indianapolis Colts in the 2021 season, as he threw four touchdown passes and tallied a career-high 442 passing yards.
As Leonard prepares to meet Jackson for the third time in his career, he is well aware that he will be in for quite a "challenge."
"It’s a big challenge," Leonard said ahead of Week 3. "He’s a dynamic player, a great football player. Very skilled, very skilled guy — he can beat you throwing the ball, running the ball. He’s got some weapons over there.
"So, it’s definitely going to be a challenge, but we’re looking forward to it."
Jackson has opened up the 2023 campaign on the right track, especially as he ranks second among all qualified quarterbacks in completion percentage (74.5 percent).
A win for the Ravens over the Colts on Sunday will give the current AFC North leaders a 3-0 record for the first time since the 2016 season.
