At least one key Ravens figure appears to be safe despite Baltimore’s disappointing 2025 season
In the search for accountability in a disappointing season, at least one key Ravens figure appears to be safe.
The Baltimore Ravens are facing a period of uncertainty amid the final stretch of their 2025 season. The Ravens were pegged as Super Bowl contenders ahead of the season — but a 1-5 start and an active two-game losing streak have put Baltimore’s status quo into question. The Ravens are 6-7, sitting on the outside of the playoff picture, and would need to run the table to ensure a chance at an AFC North division title.
That hasn’t stopped Baltimore from conducting business in the past few weeks, however. The team has come to agreements on a pair of long-term contract extensions with TE Mark Andrews and DT Travis Jones, both worth approximately $13 million per season. As Ravens fans explore what could, or could not, be on the table for changes amid this disappointing season, there’s probably one person you can consider safe no matter what based on these moves.
Ravens’ recent contract extensions suggest general manager Eric DeCosta has plenty of job security

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta has, generally, not been inspected to the same intensity as players and head coach John Harbaugh amid Baltimore’s troublesome regression this season. The failures of a team never fall on one person’s shoulders and DeCosta certainly has his share of the blame to carry. Two of the biggest issues on the team, the pass rush and the interior offensive line, were areas in which the Ravens embraced status quo and bet on player development in several places. Either injuries happened or player development hasn’t come along fast enough.
But in the search for accountability, the Ravens’ contract extensions the past two weeks would seem to indicate that DeCosta won’t be the one to pay it. Handing out nearly $80 million in total contract commitments in early December isn’t usually the kind of maneuvering you see from a general manager who won’t be back for another go round.
Rightfully so. DeCosta’s process is generally tried and true throughout the league — even if there have been misses and shortcomings. Should there be changes for the Ravens, the team’s coaching staff and roster look to be the ones in the crosshairs. The Ravens usually don’t stay down for long. DeCosta has endured a losing season once before, in 2021. The team’s win totals the next three seasons? 10, 13, and 12; plus two playoff wins. The Ravens’ general manager already appears to have his sights set on fixing this mess — and the fact that he’s allowed to spend the money he has suggests he’ll certainly get the chance to do it.
