The Cleveland Browns had quite a difficult time containing the Baltimore Ravens on the ground in Week 4.

The Ravens rushed for a total of 131 yards against the Browns. The current AFC North leaders had four different players tally at least 20 rushing yards in the contest, including Gus Edwards. There was some concern last week that Edwards would be sidelined for Week 4 due to a concussion, but in the end, he received the green light to play and went on to log 48 rushing yards.

The Browns entered Week 4 having logged a 52.0 rushing yards allowed per game average. For the Ravens to enjoy much success against Cleveland’s vaunted rush defense on Sunday came as no surprise to head coach John Harbaugh.

“I thought our [running] backs ran super well — hard downhill [run]," Harbaugh said after the game. "Some of the gap schemes — those are tough. Our offensive line, those guys are penetrating upfield. They’re very good players — inside and on the edge, and the [running] backs are [heading] down hill hitting gaps.

"So, you have to stop the penetration, and you have to get off those blocks and get those linebackers before they get in your backfield and make a play. Offensive line, tight ends—just [did] a tremendous job with that this game.”

Baltimore notched a 4.0 yards per rush attempt average against the Browns, which came as it finished the game without two of its regular starters within its offensive line. Ronnie Stanley was ruled out for Week 4 due to a knee injury, while Morgan Moses suffered a shoulder injury during the contest.

The Ravens now hold a 3-1 record for the first time since the 2021 season.
