Joe Flacco is back in the AFC North.
Flacco officially signed with the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad on Monday. The Browns hosted Flacco for a workout last week, and after once again touching base with the veteran passer, they opted to bring him in ahead of their upcoming road matchup against the Denver Broncos.
Flacco starred with the Baltimore Ravens for 11 seasons — all of which came under head coach John Harbaugh.
Harbaugh is pleased to see Flacco get another opportunity in the NFL.
"It’s great for Joe," Harbaugh said during a press conference on Monday. "I saw where Joe had said a few times where he was wanting to play still and still had plenty of juice left. I don’t doubt Joe; I never doubt Joe. He’s an ultimate competitor, and we’ll see what happens."
The Browns’ call to sign Flacco comes days after they ruled out Deshaun Watson for the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury. However, Cleveland still plans to count on Dorian Thompson-Robinson to lead its offense. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski made clear on Monday that the rookie passer will start against Denver in Week 12.
Cleveland is reportedly "expected" to promote Flacco to its active roster.
Flacco has recorded 232 touchdown passes in 15 seasons in the NFL.
