The Baltimore Ravens don't have one of their biggest offensive weapons at training camp.

Running back J.K. Dobbins is currently on the PUP list. It's a soft tissue injury that held Dobbins out of minicamp.

These days, running backs aren't paid the way they were in years past, and a lot of players at the position feel undervalued. Well, Ravens' quarterback Lamar Jackson didn't hesitate to explain what Dobbins means to the Ravens' offense.

“He means a lot to our offense, man," Jackson said on NFL Network. "He’s one of the guys that sparks the offense and gets us going. When we’re having a slow start sometimes, he gets the ball and makes magic happen. So I can’t wait for him to get back out on the field with us.”

Dobbins was a second-round pick of the Ravens in 2020. He had a very solid rookie campaign with 805 yards and nine rushing touchdowns plus another 120 receiving yards. Unfortunately, Dobbins tore his ACL and missed the entire 2021 campaign.

The 2022 season was a struggle for Dobbins as multiple knee injuries cost him nine games. He ran for 520 yards and two scores.

Dobbins is owed 1.39 million in 2023, the final year of his rookie deal. Of course, Dobbins is looking to get something long-term done soon, but with 26 games missed over the last two seasons which is three more than he's played in, that makes the situation kind of tricky for the Ravens.

When Dobbins is on the field he's productive, but that's been hit or miss so far during his career. It's about being cautious with his injury right now for Dobbins and putting himself in the best position to be available once the season starts.

Although Dobbins is missing time, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh didn't seem worried when he was asked if he's falling behind the other guys on offense.

"You know, it's really hard to make a measurement like that," Harbaugh said last week. "I don't know that there's a measurement. I know he'll get ready. He's in all the meetings mentally and doing those kind of things. I also believe this about J.K., he'll be happy when he's out there. He wants to be out there, and we both want the same thing."

The countdown continues to when Dobbins will make an appearance on the field.
