Only a handful of teams have enjoyed any kind of success in slowing down Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson over the years. Among them, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had Jackson’s number ever since he entered the league.
Jackson holds a 1-2 record as a starter against the Steelers. His lone win over the Ravens’ longtime AFC North rival came in Week 5 of the 2019 season, when he threw a trio of interceptions and fumbled once. Overall, he has thrown a combined four touchdown passes and six interceptions in his career against Pittsburgh.
The Steelers will host the Ravens at Acrisure Stadium in Week 5 and Jackson hopes that this time around, the script will flip regarding his career woes against Pittsburgh.
"I believe every game is physical," Jackson said during a press conference ahead of Week 5. "I don't even know— I've probably played the [Pittsburgh] Steelers [only] three times, so I really haven't … I don't think I've played my best against them yet, but I don't know. We're going to see [on] Sunday."
For the two-time Pro Bowler, there is much to him that differs between his duels with the Steelers and his encounters with the Ravens’ other divisional rivals in the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns.
"It's a different one out of the [Cleveland] Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals," Jackson said. "This one is like … The atmosphere is different. It's more intense, more aggressive.
"Even in practice, guys [are] just getting pumped for this game. That's about it."
Jackson logged four passing touchdowns and a 124.1 passer rating in Baltimore’s pair of divisional road wins over the Bengals and Browns earlier this season. He sure now has his sights set on putting together an encore performance in Week 5.
