Ravens’ nightmare start has gone from bad to worse, as Lamar Jackson leaves Chiefs game with hamstring injury that could compromise his ability to carry team
Things in Baltimore just went from bad to worse.
The Baltimore Ravens‘ start to 2025 could not be off to a worse start. Baltimore, which is fighting off the injury bug and a lethargic start on defense, is struggling to play complementary football through the first three weeks. When the running game is going, the ball security is bad. When the offense is clicking, the defense is caving.
It’s been a nightmare. But things have gone from bad to worse in Week 4. The Ravens, trailing the Kansas City Chiefs by three scores late in the third quarter at Arrowhead Stadium, took the field on offense without Lamar Jackson. The team listed him as questionable with a hamstring injury.
Lamar Jackson sidelined in second half against the Chiefs with a hamstring injury
A 1-2 start is bad enough. The Ravens appear to be on the doorstep of 1-3. The defense can’t stop a nosebleed amid half the starting unit out due to injuries of their own. The reinforcements on that front appear not to be getting better any time soon.
But if Jackson’s hamstring injury is significant, it will set the stage for a brutal October stretch. Even if it isn’t a major injury, Jackson’s ability to play through a lingering issue could compromise his explosiveness and mobility.
It is such a large part of his game. Jackson is, fortunately, better equipped to play as a passer within the pocket than he was earlier in his career. However, the Ravens are playing like a team that will need every bit of a superhuman effort in all phases to survive their challenging upcoming slate.
