Lamar Jackson entered the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 5 road matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a golden opportunity to orchestrate a statement showing in front of a national audience. Instead, Jackson ended up putting together yet another lowly performance against the Steelers.
Jackson turned the ball over twice in Baltimore’s 17-10 defeat to Pittsburgh on Sunday. From the lackluster efficiency in the red zone to the failure to finish off multiple promising drives, it turned out to be a game to forget for Jackson and company.
Jackson’s NFL MVP odds took a hit after his subpar performance in Week 5. The two-time Pro Bowler is now tied with Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey for the seventh-best odds (+2000) to take home this season’s NFL MVP honor.
Several quarterbacks bolstered their NFL MVP odds in Week 5, including 49ers passer Brock Purdy. He now holds the fourth-best odds (+650) to win the prestigious award following his four passing touchdowns outing in San Francisco’s 42-10 home win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Jackson will look to get back on the right track in Baltimore’s upcoming Week 6 clash with the Tennessee Titans. He has posted a 74.8 passer rating and thrown one touchdown pass in two regular season games played against Tennessee.
Mark Andrews has telling answer on Ravens’ drops issue in loss vs. Steelers
