At one point before last week’s NFL trade deadline, it seemed as if Derrick Henry was going to take his talents to the Baltimore Ravens, but in the end, he stayed put with the Tennessee Titans.
Marlon Humphrey was among those who believed that the Ravens were going to pull off a blockbuster move for Henry.
"I'm just gonna be completely honest with you, and being that it didn't happen, it doesn't really matter," Humphrey said on his "Punch Line with Marlon Humphrey" podcast. "… I got a text that somebody was gonna walk into Baltimore, Maryland, a height 6'4". I got a text that there was a very high chance that a guy that usually goes by 'King' was gonna be in purple and black in M&T Bank Stadium very soon.
"I was about 85 percent sure that King Henry would be suiting up for the Ravens. It did not happen. My source was incorrect. He had me thinking it was a done deal."
The Ravens reportedly did make a push to bring in a running back ahead of the trade deadline. Henry was regularly linked with the Ravens, but the Titans played hardball regarding the running back’s availability. According to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, the "sentiment out there" was that the "price was just too steep" for the three-time Pro Bowler.
While the Ravens missed out on acquiring Henry, Humphrey does not believe that the current AFC North leaders are in "need" of reinforcements at the running back position.
"Do we need another running back?" Humphrey said. "No sir."
The Ravens currently boast the No. 1 ranked rush offense in the NFL, as they hold a league-high 160.3 rushing yards per game average.
