The Miami Dolphins had no answer for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in Week 17.
Jackson recorded more touchdown passes (five) than incompletions (three) against the Dolphins. He also logged a perfect passer rating (158.3) for the third time in his career in the contest.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel came away displeased with the performance of his defense against the Jackson-led Ravens offense, including with just how the unit struggled time and time again to complete crucial tackles in open space.
"Really for me, we pride ourselves on, ‘If you’re going to score, you’re going to have to earn it,'" McDaniel said during his postgame press conference. "What I mean by that is we haven’t had a run-in touchdown or that many run-in touchdowns as we had in this game, which is a function of tackling. It’s to their credit.
"They had a good game plan and for their players, that are pretty good, in space. I’m confident saying before watching the film, we’re not going to be happy with the way we tackled in open space. We have to get down to the bottom of that. I’m very confident that we will."
The Dolphins had quite a difficult time in bringing down multiple Ravens players throughout the game, including Zay Flowers, who sped on by DeShon Elliot and Eli Apple on his 75-yard touchdown catch. Flowers entered Week 17 leading the Ravens in broken tackles on receptions (eight) this season.
The Ravens will close out their regular season schedule with a home matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
