Running back Derrick Henry led the charge in the Baltimore Ravens' 35-10 blowout victory over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
Henry rushed the ball 24 times for 199 yards and a touchdown, while also adding three catches for 10 yards and another touchdown. For his big performance, the NFL has named Henry the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 4.
His presence was felt immediately, as Henry broke an 87-yard touchdown run on Baltimore's first play from scrimmage. Per Next Gen Stats, he reached 21.29 mph on that run, tied for the fourth-fastest speed by a ball carrier this season, and Henry's eighth-fastest speed since 2018.
That's not too shabby for a running back who is in his ninth season. Some wondered if Henry would begin to slow down a bit with the Ravens, but instead he leads the league in rushing yards with 480. Per the NFL's official X account, Henry is now on the cusp of two major milestones – 10,000 rushing yards and 100 total touchdowns.
With how the game is played in today's NFL, Henry may be the last running back to ever join the 10,000 yard club. He'll have the opportunity to quickly shoot up the all-time leading rushers list over the next three season and could enter the top 10 by 2026 if he keeps his current pace. Entering the top 20 seems to be a certainty, needing just under 1,500 more yards.
Individual accolades are always nice, but what Henry really wants is a Super Bowl title. Despite a tough 0-2 start, it appears that the Ravens have hit their stride and should be in the mix to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LIX. Henry and quarterback Lamar Jackson are every bit the dynamic duo the NFL feared they would be, making up the leagues No. 1 ranked rushing offense.
