Marlon Humphrey will have to pay two fines at once because of incidents that happened in Week 10, during the Baltimore Ravens 35–34 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The cornerback was fined $22,511 for unnecessary Roughness (use of the helmet) in the third quarter. Then, he was also fined $11,255 for another instance of unnecessary Roughness, this time around because of a facemask in the fourth quarter.
That's a part of the NFL plan to reduce the number of violent and dangerous plays during a game. In Week 10, 1.1% of all the plays resulted in a fine.
Another punishment
Beyond Marlon Humphrey, another Baltimore Ravens player got punished. Defensive tackle Travis Jones was fined $22,511 for roughing the Passer. It was a blow to the head/neck area against Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow during the fourth quarter.
While it's tough to see football players losing money like that for normal plays, at least it goes to a good cause. The fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support legends in need.
Marlon Humphrey is in the middle of the five-year,$97.5 million extension he signed back in 2020. He's making $11.75 million this season, and his contract goes through 2026.
Steelers analyst believes Ravens’ biggest weakness may cost them rivalry game vs. Pittsburgh
Makes plenty of sense.
