The Baltimore Ravens opened up a new era on Thursday, hiring Zachary Orr as their new defensive coordinator.
Orr replaces Mike Macdonald, who served as Ravens defensive coordinator over the past two seasons. Macdonald was officially named as the new head coach of the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday.
Orr spent the previous two years serving as Baltimore's inside linebackers coach. He has closely worked with several such players on the team, including Patrick Queen. The former LSU standout is coming off of a productive season in which he tallied 133 total tackles and 3.5 sacks en route to being named to the Pro Bowl Games for the first time in his career.
Queen took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to react to the news that the Ravens promoted Orr as their new defensive coordinator.
Queen may not even feature under Orr next season, as he is set to hit free agency in March. As a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the all-around linebacker's rookie contract included a fifth-year option, but Baltimore decided to decline the option last year.
It will be noteworthy to see whether the Ravens will make a push to re-sign Queen during this year’s free agency period.
