The Baltimore Ravens may end up seeing quite a bit of turnaround within their offensive line in the coming months.
Ravens guards Kevin Zeitler and John Simpson will hit free agency in March. Zeitler played the 2023 season on the final year of the three-year deal that he signed with the Ravens in 2021. His contract was voided on Monday, which means that not only will the one-time Pro Bowler become an unrestricted free agent next month, but the team will be hit with a dead money charge of $4.268 million for this year.
Simpson will also be out of a contract in March. He led all Ravens players in snaps played on offense with an astounding 1,119 this past season.
Taking into account left tackle Ronnie Stanley’s roller-coaster 2023 campaign and the fact that right tackle Morgan Moses is under team control for a mere one more year, it would be wise for Baltimore to bolster its offensive line in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Why the Ravens should target Cooper Beebe with the No. 30 overall pick in the draft
The Ravens value versatility with their players, and that is just what former Kansas State left guard Cooper Beebe would bring to Baltimore should the team select him in the opening round of this year’s draft.
Beebe bolstered his draft stock during his final season at Kansas State. He featured in 13 games in the campaign, and he went on to earn Consensus All-America honors for the first time in his career. Overall, the standout guard allowed just two sacks in the year.
Beebe defined versatile for Kansas State. He took part in a total of 942 offensive snaps, with 819 of them coming at the left guard position. He also logged 103 snaps at right tackle and 19 snaps out at left tackle.
Final Word
The Ravens are in dire need of reinforcements within their offensive line. In the case that they opt not to bring back Zeitler, Beebe would be an ideal replacement for him at the left guard position. Beebe would also have what it takes to slot into either tackle spot as well.
